Clean water is the foundation for healthy & prosperous communities. While our nation has made significant progress since the 1970’s in cleaning up many of our rivers, bays and other vital water resources, we still face significant water quality and quantity challenges. Drinking water sources are threatened by pollution and overconsumption, and some of these threats are made worse by climate change.
"The Republican leadership in the House of Representatives has failed Americans once again by turning their backs on families and handing out giveaways to polluters."
This is a reckless decision and a slap in the face to anyone who thinks that public health should be prioritized over industry bottom-lines. Scott Pruitt's EPA is doing what it does best - pandering to polluters who line the pockets of their allies on Capitol Hill with campaign donations.
“It is unconscionable and absolutely absurd for Scott Pruitt to try to make it easier for coal plants to dump deadly toxics and other harmful chemicals directly into our rivers and lakes, including those used for drinking water, fishing, and swimming,”

Increased oversight of state programs is essential in light of public concern in the wake of events in Flint, Michigan.
